About the Event

Come join us for two days in beautiful and cool pine forest near Flagstaff!

Location:  The Fay Ridge events take place in beautiful, open, pine forest about 4 miles southeast of Flagstaff.

Courses:  Both Saturday and Sunday will feature two hour score courses. Participants visit as many control points as the can (or want) in the two-hour time limit. Controls have point values related (sometimes loosely) to their difficulty. There will be controls of all difficulty levels, so this event is appropriate for novices and experts alike. The two days use different parts of the terrain.

Maps:  Full color maps will be provided to all participants at the event site. This is a brand new map, generated from LiDAR data, which means generally excellent contour details. It has only been lightly field-checked for additional details. Especially when it comes to rock features, if it is on the map then it is almost certainly significant in the terrain, but the inverse may not be true! Trust the contours and roads.

Schedule:

  • 8:30 -- Check in opens
  • 9:00 -- First chance to start.
  • 11:00 -- Last chance to start.
  • 13:00 -- Courses close.

Registration: Pre-registration is highly encouraged in order to keep an eye on crowd size and prepare the right number of maps.  If you don't pre-register we may not have a map for you. Everyone must register as an individual even if you plan on going as a team.  See who has already signed up.

Registration closes at noon on Friday August 12.

Fees:

  • Adults: $8 (member), $12 (non-member); ($20/$16 for both days)
  • Juniors: (11-20): $6 ($10 for both days)
  • Kids: (0-10): free w/adult
  • E-punch rental $2 (required unless you have your own) This event uses e-punching for timing and punch verification. We'll show you how to use it if you've never done it before.

Coupon Codes to use at Registration:

  • "AZClub" for adult members of TSN (Tucson) or GPHXO (Phoenix)
  • "Junior" for juniors 11-20.
  • "KID" for children 10 and under (please register even though it's free—we need a headcount and a waiver for each participant).
