About the Event

Come join for this last of our summer series of City Park events. This is a kid-friendly event.

Location:  Michael Perry Park

Courses:  You can visit any or all of the approximately 30 checkpoints as long as you are back within 1 hour. Total distance to get all checkpoints will be 5 km. Most of the checkpoints will be inside the River park, except for a few at the fringe of the adjacent neighborhood.

Map:  The map will be a USGS orthophoto (similar to an aerial photograph). It will show all the paths, trees, and structures in Michael Perry Park and the adjacent Pantano River Park. Maps will be provided to all participants at the event site. For a map preview click here.

Directions and Parking:  Michael Perry Park is on Pantano Parkway, about 2 blocks south of Golf Links. WARNING: Don't be confused with Pantano Road which is on west side of Pantano Wash. The Parkway is on the east side of Pantano Wash.  Vicinity Map

What to Bring: A safety whistle is required.  You should also bring a compass, water (there is no water on the course except by the baseball diamonds) and any snacks you wish to consume.  Whistles can be purchased on site for $1, and compasses can be rented for $1.

Clues: Instead of markers and punches, at each checkpoint your clue sheet will ask a question. All you need to do is provide the correct answer based on the clue. There will be no riddles or trick questions, the correct answer will be obvious if you are at the checkpoint

Fees:  Kids 11 and younger are free if teaming with a parent. Everyone else $6. Everyone must register as an individual even if you plan on going as a team.

Youth Participants: All participants under 18 must provide a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.  If you plan to bring a minor without their parent/guardian, then please download a copy of the Waiver and Permission to Participate form and have it completed  and signed by a parent/guardian before you bring it with you to the  event.  For more details, see our instructions sheet.

Covid Safety:  Please wear a mask during check-in before and after your run and any time you are unable to keep distance from other people. Do not show up if you are feeling unwell.

Other Safety Information: To insure that all are safe, everyone, whether finished with the course or not, must check in formally at Start/Finish before courses close and before leaving the event site.
