Stefan Gollob Park Neighborhood Score-O

On Sunday June 4, 2023 come join us for a Score-O in the Saguaro Vista neighborhood adjacent to Stefan Gollob Park. The course is appropriate for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. This is a very interesting neighborhood with curvy streets and lots of features.

Score-O: You can visit any or all of the approximately 30 controls as long as you are back within 90 minutes. You are not required to visit all the controls, so you can go as fast or as slow as you wish. Total distance to get all controls is about 8k. Runners and bikers can hopefully get them all. Walkers can probably get half or more.

Bike-O and Foot-O: There will be separate foot and bike categories. All controls are accessible by road bike. There may be a couple of optional dirt shortcuts. Road bikes can elect to ride or walk the shortcuts, or go around on pavement.

Time Limit 90 minutes: There will be a stiff point penalty if you come in overtime.

Question/Answer Clues instead of Punches: Instead of control markers and punches, at each control your clue sheet will ask a question, like a scavenger hunt. All you need to do is circle the correct answer based on the clue. There will be no riddles or tricks, the correct answer will be obvious if you are at the control.

Map: The map will be a USGS orthophoto (like an aerial photograph). Scale 1/4800.

Directions and Parking: From Broadway, go south on Prudence 0.4 mile to the park entrance on your left, just before the YMCA. GPS: 32.215244, -110.830766. Start will be near the ramada by the tennis courts.

• 7:00 am Check in begins
• 7:15 am First chance to start
• 8:15 am Last chance to start
• 9:45 am Course Closes

Registration:  Pre-registration is required in order to keep an eye on crowd size and prepare the right number of maps.  See the "Fees" section below for information on coupon codes to use for member and junior pricing.  Everyone must register as an individual even if you plan on going as a team.  Registration will close at 5pm on Saturday, June 3rd.  See who has already signed up.

Fees:

• Adults: $8 (member), $12 (non-member)
• Juniors (11-20): $6
• Kids (0-10): free with a registered adult

Coupon Codes: Use the following coupon codes at pre-registration:

• "AZClub” for adult members of TSN (Tucson) or GPHXO (Phoenix).
• "Junior" for ages 11-20.
• "KID" for children 10 and under (Parent please register yourself separately and make a note to the registrar—we need a headcount and a waiver for each participant).

Youth Participants: All participants under 18 must provide a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.  If you plan to bring a minor without their parent/guardian, then please download a copy of the Waiver and Permission to Participate form and have it completed and signed by a parent/guardian before you bring it with you to the event.  For more details, see our instructions sheet.

What to Bring:

• Water (and snack if desired)
• Watch or phone (so you can finish on time)
• Hat
• (Compass and whistle not required as this is on public streets.)
