It was a beautiful morning at Greasewood Park! Orienteers were treated to fun courses by Jeff Brucker, with options suitable for orienteers of all abilities. The main offering was a score course with 20 controls and 90 minute time limit, and two suggested routings of 5 controls and 11 controls for Beginner and Novice options. In addition, there was an advanced point-to-point course that made use of most of the score controls, but with the trails removed from the map to add some challenge.
There were about 40 participants overall, with 7 on the Advanced course and the remainder opting for some part of the Score course. A majority of today’s orienteers have started orienteering in the last year or two, and it’s really great to see so many new folks joining in!
Today was also the debut for the new Tucson Orienteering Club gear, with several members sporting their new tops (see photo above). We may do a second round of ordering soon, so stay tuned!
Thanks to Alan Craig, Joan D’Alonzo, Isaac and Mateo Pimienta, and Telia Curtis for helping with control pickup. In addition to course setting, Jeff Brucker also held the fort at download for most of the morning.
