Fifty people found beautiful weather for a day of orienteering in Lincoln Park on Tucson's east side. Billie Lubis set courses in Halloween candy-corn colors of white, yellow, and orange that prompted several appreciative comments as participants finished.
The orange course featured a ghost holding onto a necessary control that it had stolen. The ghost retreated from runners but was easily cornered, or even more easily disarmed by a magic incantation learned while running the earlier part of the course.
Cristina Luis was fastest on the orange course, with a cohort of five close behind: Marcy Beard, John Beard, Gavin Boughner, Alan Craig, and Anna Campbell. Alan ran the course in his Shredder costume. KrisAnn Traicoff was fastest on yellow with Katy Hefferman not far behind. Jenna Renger was fastest on the white course.
Thanks to numerous people who helped make this a success. Betsy Lubis, Christina Luis, and Melissa Trout helped at the start and finish. Marcy Beard, John Beard, Odd Bersvendsen, Wayne Lubis, Betsy Lubis, Alexandre Savine, Anna Campbell, Gavin Boughner and Katy Heffernan retrieved controls. Gail Brodsky brought and shared a wonderful pumpkin chocolate cake. Apologies if I've neglected anyone on this list; you were all a big help!

Yellow: 2.5 km, 14 controls
Orange: 4.2 km, 31 controls
