The day before Easter found Reid Park filled with hundreds of families running around and looking for goodies, and also 80 orienteers running around and punching controls. Our participants enjoyed several offerings by Jeff Brucker: two sprint courses of about 3km, and an Explorer (score) course with all the controls used by the sprint courses. There were many newcomers today on what turned out to be a perfect setup for first time orienteers!
In addition to fun courses, Tucson orienteers were treated to cake to celebrate the 40th (!) anniversary of the founding of the Tucson Orienteering Club, as well as the success of Tucson Orienteers at Junior Nationals last weekend.
Big thanks to Nicole and KrisAnn Traicoff for vetting, helping to hang controls, and many other tasks; Peg Davis for teaching the beginner's clinic; Wayne Lubis for measuring out 100m stretches for practice; Isaac Pimienta for helping with download; Annie King for covering registration; Melissa Trout for handling pre-registrations and buying cakes; Marcy Beard, John Beard, Sasha Savine, Wayne Lubis, Betsy Lubis, Donal Traicoff all helped retrieve controls.
