The heat was on in Lincoln Park on the last day of February.  Approximately 30 runners undertook the 4.1 km course as the forecast called for a 90 degree high.  All participants handled the conditions with ease. 

Andrei Karpov finished first, followed by Peter Wentzel and Cristina Luis a minute or so behind in third.  Regardless of position, everyone seemed happy to enjoy the morning, the exercise, and the satisfaction of finding controls.  Good results for all.

Thanks to Billie Braimah for setting the course, Cristina Luis for leading the beginner’s clinic and providing all around help, Alan Craig and Annie Martin for stepping in to assist in organization and starts, and Melissa Trout for registration.  Thanks to Kathy Dodd, John Beard, Annie Martin, Pete Wentzel, Andrei Karpov and Sasha Savine for control retrieval.  Extra thanks to Pete, Andrei, Sasha, and anyone else who assisted in the jumping of Cristina’s car, Cristina for giving the race director a ride home and John and Marcy Beard for later replacing the defective car battery.

All in all, a fine morning of orienteering and then some.
