The day's orienteering event took place under ideal spring conditions.  Thistles and wildflowers dotted the landscape.  Deer and wild turkeys were observed.

Alan Craig arrived early to support event setup and manage e-punch electronics. Diana Glennon oversaw Registration and Check-In, ensuring all participants were organized for their chosen courses. Bear provided encouragement to competitors throughout the morning.

The Long Advanced course proved highly competitive, with Jason Poole narrowly securing first place ahead of Jeff Coker. Peter Wentzel finished in third place.

In the Wildcat Explorer category, which permitted competitors to visit controls in any order, Gavin Boughner and Marcy Beard successfully cleared the 21-point course. Telia Curtis utilized this course format to demonstrate compass skills and route finding to newcomer David Briggs.

Nancy Coker won the Short Advanced course, with Johanna O'Dell and Joel Norby finishing second as a team.

Dax, James, and Emma participated in the Beginner’s Clinic led by Peg Davis and efficiently navigated the Advanced Beginner’s course using the instruction they received. They then proceeded to attempt the Short Advanced course for additional practice, accompanied by their Dachshund companion.

While waiting for runners to finish, participants reviewed routes over refreshments. Arlo was introduced as a future orienteer, and a club member’s birthday was mentioned, adding to the friendly atmosphere.

Once everyone had finished their courses, Control Retrievers promptly collected controls, bags, stakes, and other equipment. Appreciation is extended to John and Marcy Beard, Jeff and Nancy Coker, Joel Norby, and Johanna O’Dell for their efforts in ensuring the site was left clean following the event.
