About the Event
Join us for a short course at this delightful little pocket of mesquites and cottonwoods, tucked away in the northeast corner of Tucson!
Location, Directions, and Parking: Isabella Lee Natural Preserve, 1701 N Bonzanza. Google Maps.
Courses: One short “park” course, ~2-3km.
MapRun Phone App: We will use the MapRun app for timing and punch verification, instead of control flags and e-punches. Please download the app to your iOS or Android phone before the event, but if you forget we can show you how on-site. Here is a short video explaining MapRun. There will be a volunteer at the event who will show you how to use MapRun if you've never done it before.
Maps: Paper maps will be provided to all participants who join the group event on Aug 22. Everyone else will get a link to download the map and print on their own.
Schedule:
On August 22:
6:00 am First chance to start.
8:00 am Last chance to start.
Event host will leave once everyone returns.
If you’d like beginner instruction, drop us a note during registration and we’ll give you instruction before you head out.
After August 22:
Show up anytime and take as long as you’d like!
Registration: Pre-registration is required in order to keep an eye on crowd size and prepare the right number of maps. Everyone must register as an individual even if you plan on going as a team. See who has already signed up. Registration for the Aug 22 group meetup closes at midnight on Aug 21.
What to Bring:
iOS or Android Smartphone, or Garmin watch, with MapRun installed
Compass (optional, and we have a few loaners)
Water (and snacks if desired)
Fees:
General: $5
Kids (0-10): free w/adult (use coupon code KID)
Youth Participants: All participants under 18 must provide a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. For details see our Instructions for Minors. These instructions are for anyone who will be bringing a minor child under 18 to an event.
Safety Information: To ensure that all are safe, everyone, whether finished with the course or not, must check in formally at Start/Finish before courses close and before leaving the event site.
