Linden Park Neighborhood

Linden Park MapRun - join us for an urban orienteering course in the middle of Tucson!

Location: Linden Park, 300 S. Desert Ave. Tucson

Course: Urban point-to-point orienteering course, 4km straight-line distance (longer in reality).

Maps: Paper maps will be provided to all participants at the event site. If you sign up for the virtual option you'll get a link to a PDF you can print yourself. 

MapRun Controls: There will be no physical control flags or epunches. This event uses the MapRun phone app for timing and punch verification. When you get close to the control feature, your phone will vibrate/beep. That’s it. We recommend that you download the MapRun app to your iOS or Android phone before the event, but if you forget we can show you how on-site.

Extended Course: If you cannot make it on Oct 5th, no problem. The course will remain open until October 19th. Register normally, then select “Sprint Virtual” when asked. You will be sent an email with a link to the map which you can print yourself.

Schedule:

• At home download the latest version of MapRun

• 6:30 AM First chance to start.

• 8:00 AM Last chance to start.

Registration: Pre-registration is required in order to keep an eye on crowd size and prepare the right number of maps. See the "Fees" section below for member's and junior's discounts. Everyone must register as an individual even if you plan on going as a team. See who has already signed up.

Directions and Parking: Park on the street near the park. There's plenty of room.

 What to Bring:

• iOS or Android Smartphone, or Garmin watch. You can set up the course in advance

• Water (and snacks if desired)

Fees:

• Adults: $5

• Juniors (11-20): $5

• Kids (0-10): free w/adult

• Children 10 and under use code "KID" (please register even though it's free—we need a headcount and a waiver for each participant).

Youth Participants: All participants under 18 must provide a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. For details see our Instructions for Minors. These instructions are for anyone who will be bringing a minor child under 18 to an event.

Safety Information: To ensure that all are safe, everyone, whether finished with the course or not, must check in formally at Start/Finish before courses close and before leaving the event site.
