Brandi Fenton Park featured a new map developed by Jeff Brucker.  Course completion was tracked by the MapRun App.  Those that did not complete the point-to-point course were placed in the Explorer category.  Although there were a few glitches reported with MapRun, it has shown to be useful in park settings and has been widely accepted by club members. The MapRun course will remain open until January 25, 2026 for those wishing to complete the course on their own.

The crisp weather did little to dampen spirits of both seasoned and new participants.  For those new to the sport, Peg Davis gathered the newcomers and led the Beginner’s Clinic, sharing her expertise and ensuring everyone understood the basics of orienteering and map reading.  Thanks to her instruction, newcomers felt equipped and encouraged to try out the sport and ventured out on the course.  More importantly, everyone returned safely!  Course setter notes included important information on navigating the road and wash crossings.

There were several reports of issues using MapRun: 

• Two people reported MapRun failed to register at control #12. 

• One person had a failure to beep on #8 but it did register ok.

• One person took a route too close to finish so his time stopped there.

• One person's start time unintentionally began when using the bathroom.
